I love Fashion Camp!
Really, I love Treehouse Kid + Craft. To the nth degree. Everytime I think about doing an I Heart Treehouse post, I remember the next cool thing they’ve got coming and think, I should wait until after that happens. But something cool is always around the corner, so I’m just going to have to post about them individually.
Daisy got to go to Fashion Camp last week. Earlier in the summer, I had asked her about many different camp opportunities. If it wasn’t a mommy and me type camp, she had no interest. She had gotten so accustomed to turning them down, that she at first said no when I suggested this one. Then she paused mid-“I don’t think so” and got a wistful look on her face, and airily asked, “Fashion camp?”

When the day came, she was back to the idea of not wanting to go because I wasn’t going to be there. We were two weeks away from school starting, so I needed her to get used to going on without me. When we pulled into the parking lot, she said, “I’m going to camp at Treehouse? You didn’t tell me that part. Bye Mom!” and she was off.

The things she and the other campers made were amazing. The first day they made t-shirts. Not just decorated them, MADE them. They did decorate them, too, and what made Daisy’s extra special is that it was only the second time she had done a representational drawing. The day before she said she wanted to draw a flower, so I showed her how she could combine the circles and ones she’s good at to do that. This time - I think on her own - she combined them to make a spider. You can do so many things with circles and ones! My absolute favorite though were the wings. Oh, the magical wings! I’ll just let the pictures speak about the wings.

Aren’t they lovely? The week culminated with a fashion show. Daisy donned her wings, a rainbow tutu, and a fabulous barrette. Others wore crowns, t-shirts, and clothes they constructed from paper. They hopped down a line of stars and twirled and jumped (and in Daisy’s case, stomped a bunch of ants). Gretchen and Kristen really did an amazing job with this camp. This week Daisy is at Made by Joel camp. Can’t wait to see what that brings.
